Boom Beach is a little similar to the likes of any Clash of Clans-style game wherein players are given a home base which they need to defend at any cost. Players start by building up sniper towers, mortars, machine guns, and cannons, with all in the hope of stopping the Blackguard forces.
Not like Clash of Clans, players cannot buy units for them to build or upgrade multiple buildings at once. Players can only use one unit to construct at a time. This fact slows the pace of Boom Beach. When first playing the game, it can be sometimes tempting to use diamonds (premium currency) in order to speed up things.
The game gives the players more control, more options to destroy opponent’s plans, and more chances to think of a good plan on how to approach a situation than CoC. No matter if it’s the troublesome flamethrowers or those areas of effect medikit units that heal forces, these types of actions will make every player feel that they are in control, and not depend at the mercy of the game’s AI.
One of the best improvements of the game is the flare. Players can fire one of these at a specific spot on the map, and their troops will go to that position until it fizzles out. This tactic allows players to guide their soldiers around the patch of mines of aim their fire on one specific target.
There are also visual improvements on Boom Beach. The trees on the game will bend in the wake of an explosion, sea flows beautifully, and even more detail on every unit and building.
