The original DragonVale game was an addictive game from the earlier days of mobile gaming that became a hit in 2011 for Backflip Studios. Now, it finally gained a sequel in the form of DragonVale World, and the hopes of the game to move beyond the collect and breed gaming mechanics of its predecessor.
DragonVale World again puts players in command of a fantasy that’s equivalent to Jurassic Park, in the sense of building a place for people to see different types of dragons instead of dinosaurs. Players will start out with a modest spot of land, a few habitats for the dragons to stay and a dinosaur egg.
Every dragon has either one or two types which are earth, fire, jungle or frozen. Each dragon will need the right habitat in order to survive. However, the types will come into play when players are now able to breed more dragons.
Players can pair up any two dragons for their breeding, and after a specific amount of time, they will have their new dragon egg. But dragon eggs need to be incubated in the Hatchery before they can find out what type of dragon they have.
When it comes to breeding, the trial and error part can be a bit frustrating but sometimes fun. The rest of the game will mostly focus on managing timers, growing food, feeding dragons for them to level up, deploying them on gather missions or clearing out rocks and trees to expand the territory/park.
